Practical, economically feasible and proven solutions for waste treatment and recycling with maximum diversion
ECWM manages the treatment and disposal of MSW collected from Cairo Governorate. In the last 5 years, our facilities had received more than 10 million tons of waste from the four zones (northern, southern, eastern and western) to manage at ECWM facilities.
In May 2020, we started operation at the two facilities of 15th of May and El-Salam – Obour. Prior operation, ECWM upgraded the two facilities with required infrastructure, including civil and electrical works and supply new treatment and recycling lines with capacity of 4000 ton/day for each facility, as well as, the construction of the landfill cells. All sites are equipped with surveillance camera systems with control rooms to monitor the operation.
In April 2025, ECWM had completed the construction of its new MSW treatment and recycling facility and engineered landfill at the “Waste Treatment and Disposal Complex” in 10th of Ramadan City, where operations are expected to take place in May 2026 at the new site for the treatment, recycling and disposal of waste collected from the Eastern and Northern Zones of Cairo Governorate. This treatment and recycling facility was constructed over an area of 210,000 sqm, with a capacity of 7,000 tons/day, making it the largest MSW treatment and recycling facility in the Middle East.
